Harpsichord Lids
My first harpsichord lid was recently painted on a two manual harpsichord made by Kevin Fryer of San Francisco for the Dutch Harpsichordist, Jacques Ogg. Mr. Ogg chose “ Orpheus Charming the Animals” by Albert Cuyp (17c, Dutch) which I then adapted for the lid. I recently completed a second harpsichord lid for Kevin Fryer. Adapted from several paintings by Joseph Vernet (18c, French), one of which is called “A Calm Sea in Moonlight”.
Since I was trained as a pianist and soprano, and all of my family are professional musicians, these are very appropriate and delightful projects for me.

This is my second Harpsichord lid. Adopted for Kevin Fryer, harpsichord maker, on his personal instrument. Done from a painting by Joseph Vernet (18c, French) one of which is called "Calm Sea in the Moonlight" and other Vernet works.

These two paintings are on panels, framed in black shadow boxes 10 x 12 and 11 x 17 1/2. They were samples to practice the rendering of the crackalure "antique" surface of the lid painting, and are for sale.
